If you are fortunate enough to trust someone you know to recommend a personal injury lawyer you probably don’t need to read this article. Thankfully my services are rarely needed as a personal injury lawyer because car accidents in BC do not happen often.  The fact that so few require my services means that word of mouth is difficult for most people because no  friends or family have ever needed to use the services of a personal injury lawyer.
With the popularity of the internet and social media sites in particular, it is becoming easier to find  a good personal injury lawyer. The concept of word of mouth is expanding to include the cyberspace communities that many of us belong to.  The difficulty is still to find that one lawyer that builds trust and is competent to take your injury case to settlement or trial. Here are three new ways to find a lawyer that comes pretty close to word of mouth:

1.  Testimonials From Past Clients

See if the lawyer has any positive comments from prior clients on sites that monitor the integrity of the reviews.

2.  Professional Associations

The Law Society of  British Columbia regulates all lawyers in BC and keeps on official list of BC lawyers that are in good standing, have no restrictions, and are able to practice law.

3.  Social Media

Your trusted friends on Google Plus, Facebook or other sites like LinkedIn can sometimes give some perspective on personal experience with a lawyer.
As a Personal Injury Lawyer I have had extensive legal education and over 20 years experience working on personal injury cases. Unless you intend to learn the law overnight I suggest, whether it is by word of mouth or another reliable source, you get the benefit of a lawyer working on your side.
